Server Hosting¶
BlackICE servers are run by the community. Some are private, kept for a group of friends, and some are public and listed for everyone. Both are the same server software with a different configuration, so you can start small and open your server up later.
Hosting works without any account or registration, but if you want your server to show up in the server list, and if you want to make use of persistent player identifiers you need to create a server key in the management panel.
More on that here Registering a server
You are free to skip that step and host the server in sv_lan mode without a key, but
be aware of the lack of authentication for connecting players.
